A beautifully illustrated children's book featuring the iconic Miami landscape

About Us

Miu Over Miami:

Miu Miu  is a quirky black house cat living in Miami with a very large tummy and an even larger appetite! Miu's superior sense of smell leads to wild adventures with his streetwise Spanish speaking feline sidekick Tigre el Grande!

“Miu Over Miami” isn’t simply a book, but the first in an interactive series.  This picture book is an early reader designed for children ages 3 to 8. "Miu Over Miami" is beautifully illustrated featuring scenes of Miami's iconic landscape.

The goal is to write and publish a series featuring Miu and Tigre’s adventures while delivering thought provoking messages, encouraging child literacy and helping children to learn the basic vocabulary for a second (or third!) language. With the author's deep love for writing, animals and children this series will shine through to children and parents alike. The intention is not to write another illustrated book series featuring animals, but to truly captivate and engage people with vividly appealing stories set within unique cultural environments to educate and promote curiosity.

Read to Learn Books for Free Program:
Nearly half of Miami-Dade County 3rd graders fail to read at even basic grade level, and are 4 times more likely to drop out of high school. Studies have shown that access to reading materials is the first real step toward improving children’s literacy, but only 1 out of every 300 urban children has a book in their home. The second step is getting parents involved in reading with their children. Read to Learn encourages children and parents to read together by placing 40 bookshelves full of free books (ages 0-16) throughout under-served areas of Miami-Dade County, in such locations as WIC offices, community action centers, juvenile justice centers, battered-women-and-children shelters, and more. Children are encouraged to take one book per visit
